It’s not a bad Saturday around these parts. First, if you would be kind enough to direct your eyes to the main logo, you’ll see the main image snazzed up a little. Ah, photo shop. Thanks to a dude named Peter for fixing that for us.
To the main event. Here is footage of Royal HS right-hander Bryan Berglund. This was a good week for scouting pitchers here in Southern California. There were a lot of national-level guys in town to see the parade that included Tyler Skaggs, Tyler Matzek, Matt Hobgood and finally Berglund Friday afternoon. All four of these pitchers are going to go, as they say in the business, and they are going to go good.
Berglund’s footage was shot in the third, fourth and fifth innings. He was at his best in the first inning, but I couldn’t film it because I needed to watch his stuff and the guns to file the report after the game and write the forthcoming scouting report. You still get a glimpse of Berglund’s fast arm and power potential here, along with a few sliders and change-ups, from various angles. The last few pitches of the tape, the fifth inning, is Berglund on fumes with his left hamstring bothering him. He missed a start two weeks ago and was making his first start at what he hoped was 100 percent. He said after this start that he felt at 85 percent at his best. Perhaps we’ll update his video file as he gets completly healthy and the draft nears. Stay tuned.
