Andrew Oliver, LHP
Oklahoma State University (2009 draft)
6-3, 210
Games seen: 1, Innings: 6.3
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall frame, long arms and legs. Medium build lower half, medium build shoulders.
STRENGTHS: Above-average fastball, 92-94, avg. 92, heavy sink with late movement, mostly two-seam. Above-average slider with occasional heavy tilt. Slingshot-type delivery adds some deception and effectiveness out of ¾ slot, a combative presence on the mound.
WEAKNESSES: Did not repeat delivery, leading to inconsistent FB command. Overall command must be improved at advanced levels. Average to below-average CB and CH (change-up) command in game I saw, lacked true off-speed pitch – all correctable. One-pitch weapon in this game; could be candidate to become closer.
SUMMARY: Quality left-handed arm with potential to throw power FB at ML level, but must consistently show command. Arm angle and delivery creates FB movement, best tool. Reminds me of LHP Brian Fuentes.
Grades (Present/Future)
Delivery 40/50
Fastball 45/60
Curveball 30/50
Slider 35/60
Change 30/50
Command 35/50
Overall Future Potential: 53
