Angelo Songco, OF
Loyola Marymount (2009 Draft)
6-2, 190
Bats: Left, Throws: Right
Games seen: 2, Innings: 18
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Medium frame, athletic build, trim waist, long arms and legs; long fingers, strong hands and grip.
STRENGTHS: Aggressive hitter. Ability to roll a poll. Straight up-and-down stance, power is LCF and dead pull; crushes mistakes, pure bad-ball hitter. Upper-cut finish to swing. Average runner. Average fielder. AL-type player.
WEAKNESSES: Longish swing tends to get too “armsy,” sometimes becomes pull conscious, correctable. Will need to show he can protect inner-half at faster levels. Below average arm better suited to LF.
SUMMARY: Bat and power will take him as far as he’s going to go. Strong body with room to grow; will need to maintain opposite-field approach to maximize power in my opinion. Enough average tools to find place in field. Good Luck ‘09 and beyond.
GRADES:
Hit 40/55
Power 40/60
Run 50/50
Arm 45/45
Field 50/50
Overall Future Potential: 52
