Catching up with OF Jake Marisnick, 104th overall, Toronto Blue Jays (2009 Draft)

In the final days before the 2009 draft, Jake Marisnick worked out for the Angels, Yankees, Royals and Blue Jays. The Angels, Yankees and Blue Jays have a history of drafting athletic outfielders and paying to get them, so those teams seemed like a logical fit. But the Angels took two outfielders with their first two picks, the Yankees took an outfielder with their first pick, and the Royals went heavy on pitching.
Toronto took four pitchers with its first four picks, then used their second third-round pick on their first position player, taking the Riverside Poly center fielder with the 104th overall selection.
Marisnick told Baseball Beginnings that negotiations have started with the Blue Jays, but no agreement has been reached.

For the first Q&A installment of Big League Beginnings, I ran down Zimmerman when the Nationals were in town. Baseball Beginnings, spanning the back waters to the big leagues.
Chad Thompson began the spring as one of the top high school right-handers on the Southern California watch list, but after a fast start and a pop in his elbow, that changed. The 6-7 Thompson underwent elbow ligament replacement (Tommy John) surgery on May 1, but still hoped to have shown enough that he could be drafted and undergo a professional rehabilitation stint.
