PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall and athletic, physically projects, lean muscular build through shoulders, high hips, and legs. Loose athletic actions; has the body to play for years to come.
STRENGTHS: Doesn’t possess a future below-average tool, will be one of the closest things to a pure five-tool player in 2010 MLB draft. Fast-trigger swing, very aggressive hack, finishes with two hands, has ability to lift the ball. Power projects enough to predict this player as capable of holding down an MLB corner OF spot. Hands are fast and strong, though he probably won’t he a high-average hitter. A 60 runner now is enough for majors, arm will also be a weapon.
WEAKNESSES: Will need to improve pitch selection upon signing and continue adding strength. Needs to face better competition to really grow. Has all the physical tools you need; but he needs to see better pitching to get there.
SUMMARY: Griffin possesses the money skills: speed and power. Body should fill out and add a few inches; his hands are fast and he needs to remember to keep hands back. A very good prospect with a chance to be multi-dimensional offensive and defensive threat at the ML level; give the kid time to develop or risk short changing him. Could be Torii Hunter type ML player.
Overall Future Potential: 58
