I’ve done some good work in Alabama. So has Brandon May, who went to work over the summer in the Cape Cod League and then signed with the Chicago Cubs. Here’s a look at some of that hard work.

May has a chance to hang around the professional game as a right-handed hitting catcher who can play multiple positions and put the ball in play with modest pop.  In his last college season at Alabama, May served as a clean-up hitter and hit .347 with 12 home runs and 69 RBIs in the SEC.

Drafted in the 36th round by the Cubs, May was athletic enough to be an infielder in college. He was working on a simple approach the day I ran into him, trying to drive the ball back up the middle with wood in extra work.
