Tyler Kuresa has a pretty left-handed swing when you watch him from the third base side. You’ll have to trust me and have a look at him from the first base side.
Kuresa (Oakmont HS, Roseville, Calif.) made a college commitment to Oregon. We’ll have to see if the draft allows him to get there, because he will have professional tools. Kuresa has three quality aspects that will make him desirable to major league scouts. His bat will open the door, his power potential will keep him around, and his body type will give him a chance for it to happen.
Listed at 6-3, 185, Kuresa is lean and lanky with loose hands. He has a very projectable and athletic frame. His swing shows an easy stride and a firm front side with a quiet head. Kuresa is capable of hard contact with a good sound off the bat and showed a desire to lift the ball. He’ll likely hit his share of doubles. As an added bonus, he gives you enough athletic ability, body control and coordination to add some value defensively, though his arm won’t be a high grade. Overall, a very good high school draft with a body to fill and power potential.
