Scouting Report: Jarrett Parker, OF, Virginia (2010 Draft)
By John Klima
January 23, 2010
Jarrett Parker has some advantages for a college outfielder and professional prospect. His body type and physical projection will be beneficial for him. He won’t have one tool that will knock you out, but is the kind of guy who could develop into a servicable major league outfielder by doing several things just well enough.
Jarrett Parker, OF
6-4, 210
B/T: L/L
Games: 1, Innings: 9
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Tall and lean athletic frame, room for physical projection.
STRENGTHS: Good runner, defender, fielder and athlete. Has room for physical projection, should be a spray hitter with gap power.
WEAKENSSES: Lacks strength and power now, should have room for more. Swing is too armsy for a guy with limited power; needs to shorten stroke.
SUMMARY: Lacks one tool to make him a dominant player, but could be very good extra outfielder at major league level.
