Scouting Report: Drew Robinson, OF, Silverado (NV) HS (2010 Draft)

By
February 3, 2010

Drew Robinson probably hasn’t received a whole lot of attention outside Las Vegas, and heck, I’m not even sure if there is a newspaper around anymore to cover Vegas baseball. Well, thank goodness for Baseball Beginnings, the wise-cracking Southern California scout.

Robinson is a pretty good little player. For me, he should be a college guy and then take pro ball as far as he can go. I think he’ll have a shot, for a few reasons. First of all, this guy is all projection, and as you’ll see in his report, he has some basic tools to start with. A college player he reminds me a lot of is Jarrett Parker at Virginia, a player we scouted in the Cape Cod League, also a left-handed hitting outfielder with speed. If you want to take it a step higher, he can be a Ryan Spilborghs type.

WEAKNESSES: Below-average strength and power; doesn’t have one dominating tool, but doesn’t have any one poor tool.
