Scouting Video: Kevin Jordan, OF, Northside Columbus (GA) HS (2010 Draft)
Posted By John Klima on February 8, 2010
I’ll take Money Tools over Moneyball any day of the week. Georgia High School outfielder Kevin Jordan has the athletic ability to possess money tools, which boils down to power and speed. Have a look.
Get the Flash Player to see this player.
Jordan, who comes from a multi-sport background, is lean, lanky and powerful with plenty of physical projection. He is what I call a “cricket” guy, because when you get him in front of numerous scouts, you’ll hear all the stopwatches in the house starting and stopping from pitch to pitch. We’ll have a full scouting report on Jordan later, but what he shows here is the loose explosiveness that characterizes players cut from this mold. The knock on a guy like this will be he lacks experience or hasn’t been a baseball-only guy long enough. Give this guy 2,000 at-bats to smooth out inexperience and inconsistency and call me back. If he doesn’t improve, OK, but with a tool set like this, you can’t rule out athleticism and adjustability. His college commitment is to Wake Forest, but pro-side player development was made for a guy like this.
So I said it once and I’ll say it again. You can have your Moneyball guys with no projectability. Last time I checked, those guys don’t win pennants.
