Scouting Snapshot: Pierre LePage, 2B, UCONN (2010 Draft)

By
March 20, 2010

Pierre LePage makes up for a lack of size with above-average right-handed speed and solid defense.

LePage, a junior second baseman, ran a 4.1 to first, which is very good on the major league scale. He has average range around second base but will field what he gets to and his average arm is just enough. Offensively, LePage is going to have to prove that he is not going to be limited as a pro. He slaps at the ball and doesn’t drive it with authority, but should have the body type to get slightly stronger in the coming years. His speed and defense should give him a chance to hang around the game while he develops offensively.

Grades: Run 7/7, Hit 2/5 Power 2/4, Arm 4/4, Field 5/5 OFP: 50
