Continuing a chat with our regional scouting source, I asked him to break down three of the SEC’s draft prospects based on recent spring looks. Again, these are not my comments. As I have said before, if they were, I would tell you so.

Hunter Morris, Auburn
“A man. Power to all fields. Sits on a curveball really well. Gets his hands inside everything. Kind of hitter who is talented enough to foul a pitch back to get the guy to throw it again, and then kill that pitch the next time he gets it. A major league characteristic. Pure hitter. Very legit.”

Tim Ferguson, Ole Miss
“Scrappy player. Plays hard. Improved his speed. Would never know he’s new to CF. Has made himself into a tough out. Likes to go up the middle and now showing the ability to pull for power or go other way. Great defender, better athlete than he gets credit for, good runner.”

Zack Cox, Arkansas
“Quiet hands. Solid bat but no power, can hit for average. Average third base defender. Limited range at third. Average arm. Lacks premier athleticism. Better hit to make it.”
