Scouting Summary: Dylan Bundy, RHP, Owasso (OK) HS (2011 Draft)

Dylan Bundy will go to the University of Texas if the draft doesn’t come up with the money. He’s one of the top five high school right-handers nationally this season. I’ve only seen him once and missed the chance to see him pitch in August. With that said, I feel I can provide a fairly accurate scouting summary based on the look I had in 2009.
Who is he? Bundy is a low-center of gravity three-pitch starter who profiles as a No. 1 or No. 2 major league starter with a plus fastball and plus curveball. Over time, his change-up should become a serviceable third pitch. Bundy’s plus is his power and the ease of his mechanics and delivery. At 6-1, he’s a little bit of a short arm pitcher who might occasionally cut off his extension. But for the most part, Bundy is smooth and explosive, coming out of a high ¾ slot with excellent delivery and arm action. He has a fast and loose arm supported by a sturdy trunk and torso. He throws a heavy fastball with hard downhill trajectory, which means a lot of sink and occasional bore. His curveball profiles as his weapon pitch, with tight rotation and depth.
OFP range 60-70
